Which JoCa paintings are available now?

What does non finito mean in JoCa's work?

Non finito — literally “not finished” — is the method the paintings are built on. A face is worked up and broken down in the same image: features build and dissolve through layered, interrupted marks, so a portrait reads closer to a memory than a likeness. The unresolved surface is the argument, not an accident of process.

That method carries the central subject. JoCa's work sits at the intersection of identity, technology and societal transformation — particularly the anonymity and hyper-reality of social media and virtual environments, where self-image is continually reformed under filters, surveillance and avatars. The fragmented face is what that condition looks like.

How is an original different from a print?

An original is a single physical painting in oil on canvas. There is exactly one, and once it is acquired it is gone. A print is a reproduction produced in an edition. JoCa produced limited edition giclée prints for about a year and has since discontinued them in order to focus solely on original works, so everything currently offered on this site is an original painting.

What size should you consider?

The intimate works — around 45 × 45 cm — reward close, sustained looking and suit a reading corner, a hallway or a desk wall. The mid-range, roughly 65 × 65 to 108 × 80 cm, holds a room without dominating it. The largest canvases, up to 150 × 150 cm, are architectural: they set the tone of a whole wall and need viewing distance to resolve. How does a painting reach you?

Works ship from the studio within 3 to 5 business days. Some pieces travel stretched on a professional wooden frame and arrive ready to hang; others ship rolled in a tube, neatly packaged and ready for framing. Each product page says which applies. Recent works include a certificate of authenticity, and some are hand-signed and dedicated to the collector who acquires them.

Where has the work been shown?

JoCa's first institutional solo exhibition, Non Finito, opened at the Museo de la Ciudad de Mérida in May 2026 with 30 works, curated by Rafael Pérez y Pérez. In September 2026, Echoes of Haworth sold out on its opening night at Galera 32, Mexico City. Earlier solo and group exhibitions include Little Miss / Trauma Miss at MANIFESTO Gallery in Guadalajara and Somniloquía at Pali Galería in Mexico City.
